Virtual lunch is an online team building event where team members come together to share a meal remotely over video conferencing software. Example meal types include lunch and learns, theme lunches, and virtual tea parties. The main purpose of these events is to foster camaraderie in online offices. These activities are also known as remote lunches and Zoom lunches. The fact that my team became increasingly remote work blog engaged in these virtual team building events transposed into their day to day work. It was a wonderful idea that we implemented and it helped a new remote team turn into a tightly knit virtual family that ended up working together online and offline as well.
